The mission at René Remie Surgical Skills Centre is to share experience and enthusiasm for setting and achieving ambitious levels of surgical skills. The Centre focuses on teaching, training and consultancy tailored to individual needs, with as many hands-on practical exercises as possible. The Centre values and encourages good surgical practices, learning to do the right things in the best, with the highest level of efficiency, and with the least tissue trauma in the shortest possible times. Particular attention is paid to good access, a goal-oriented approach, proper illumination, sequence of handlings, hemostasis, asepsis, and optimal perioperative care with hypnosis, analgesia, muscle relaxation and parasympathic inhibition (the foursome of anesthesia), maintenance of fluid balance and body temperature.
