Biography
Jack Vanden Heuvel (pronounced van den HAY vel)
• Graduated from the University of Wisconsin with Ph.D. in Environmental Toxicology
• Post-Doc at the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences in North Carolina
• First faculty position was at Purdue University in the Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology
• Been at Penn State for 26 years in the Department of Veterinary and Biomedical Sciences. Currently a Professor of Molecular Toxicology and the Undergraduate Program Coordinator, Pharmacology & Toxicology. Teach classes in Environmental Toxicology and Molecular and Cellular Toxicology
• Founded INDIGO Biosciences in 2005 and serve as its Chief Scientific Officer
• Research focuses on nuclear receptors and their role in cancer biology, nutrition, drug discovery, and toxicology with over 100 peer-reviewed publications.
