Biography
Dr. Gardner received his Doctorate in Biomedical Engineering from Louisiana Tech University. He is currently the Kai and Earl Rozas Professor in the Department of Physiology at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center in New Orleans, Louisiana, USA. Dr. Gardner’s research focuses on the extracellular matrix (ECM) alterations responsible for the development of heart failure and cardiac dysfunction in multiple disease states. His active research projects include: cardiac effects of chronic, inhaled nicotine; prenatal alcohol exposure (PAE) and cardiac dysfunction; and the mechanisms of alcoholic cardiomyopathy.
