Biography

Javier Cid, MD, DrPH, MBA, MSc, is a Senior Research Scientist with the Real-World Evidence group at Evidera. He has experience in the planning, implementation, and analysis of several drug and disease registries and databases, as well as in the development and implementation of signal detection for pharmacovigilance. He is a healthcare professional with more than 25 years’ experience, spending half of that time working for two major pharmaceutical companies in the areas of pharmacoepidemiology and drug safety.

He worked as a senior epidemiologist, global epidemiology expert, medical advisor, and study medical expert. He had global responsibilities in the areas of neuroscience (neurology and psychiatry), anti-inflammatories, hematology, and solid tumor oncology. Javier has contributed to several therapeutic risk management plans, interacted with global health authorities (such as the U.S. Food and Drug Administration [FDA], European Medicines Agency [EMA], Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency [MHRA], and the Agence française de sécurité sanitaire des produits de santé [AFSSAPS]), including the FDA Advisory Committee Meeting and Pharmacovigilance Working Party (PhVWP) meeting. His work has been presented at professional scientific conferences and published in many international scientific journals. His interests include gerontology and comparative effectiveness research.

Javier received his medical doctor (MD) degree from the University of Zaragoza Medical School in Zaragoza, Spain; his master of public health (MPH) degree from the National School of Public Health in Madrid, Spain (Escuela Nacional de Sanidad); his doctorate of public health (DrPH) degree from the Johns Hopkins University School of Hygiene and Public Health (Baltimore, Maryland, USA); his corporate master of business administration (MBA) degree from the ESADE Business School in Barcelona, Spain; and his master of science in health economics and pharmacoeconomics (MSc) degree from the Universitat Pompeu Fabra in Barcelona, Spain. He is also a certified specialist in preventive medicine and public health (Spain’s MIR).
