Accurate, high resolution measurement of urine output in mice is now possible. Join this webinar to learn about new technology for noninvasive measurement of mouse urinary voiding frequency and volume from a recognized scientist in the field, Dr. Nathan Tykocki.

The laboratory mouse is a critical model organism, permitting scientists to investigate the genetic basis of health and disease. However, to take advantage of the mouse as a genetic model in urology research, a noninvasive method to accurately and consistently measure voided urine output is required. To date, measuring urine output from mice has been a challenging, and in some cases, impossible task. This is partly due to the small volume of fluid in question, but even more so relates to the difficulty in separating feces from voided urine. Because of these challenges, Med Associates, along with its sister company Catamount Research and Development, has developed and commercialized the first system that enables accurate and repeatable measurement of voided urine volume from the laboratory mouse. With this system — UroVoid — it is now possible to make chronic measurements of voided urine volume and frequency in the mouse.

During this webinar Dr. Nathan Tykocki discusses the technical challenges involved with measuring urine volume and frequency in the mouse. He provides an overview of the UroVoid system, and showcases recent data from his laboratory in which mouse voiding studies are providing valuable insights to disorders of the lower urinary tract. Viewers gain an understanding of how to setup and utilize a UroVoid system in their own laboratory.
