Video Interview // Aurora Scientific’s 801C: Small Intact Muscle Apparatus

During the inaugural American Physiological Society Summit hosted in Long Beach, California, I had the pleasure of sitting down with Chris Rand, Sales and Marketing Manager of Aurora Scientific, to discuss innovations in instrumentation that are enabling groundbreaking strides in physiological research.

Specifically, Chris and I discussed Aurora Scientific’s 801C: Small Intact Muscle Apparatus, which measures muscle contractility and can be used for a variety of applications in fields such as muscle physiology and cardiovascular research.

Quick Facts

  • part of the 1500A: Isolated Muscle System
  • inclusion of built-in electrodes
  • temperature controlled 0 – 40°C
  • compatibility with a high-speed length controller, and dual-mode lever system
  • open top with sealing lid for oxygen consumption or hypoxia studies
  • microscope mountable on both, standard and inverted microscopes
  • multiple bath configurations
  • can be used for various tissues, including skeletal muscle, cardiovascular tissue, smooth muscle, and even whole larvae contractions in zebrafish

Overall, the device’s versatility makes it useful for a wide range of applications and perfect for researchers seeking to study different muscles, tissue units and samples. From tissue constructs to zebrafish, the 801C is the serious choice for functional muscle measurements.  Click to learn more about the  801C: Small Intact Muscle Apparatus and the 1500A: Isolated Muscle System
