Biography

Kelly McCarrier is a dynamic health-focused social scientist with demonstrated expertise leading applied research and program/policy evaluation projects. Extensive experience in PRO/COA development, research design consulting, qualitative and mixed-methods approaches, and quantitative analysis across a wide variety of topics and therapeutic areas. Skilled in conceptual modeling, survey research methods, systematic reviews, qualitative interviewing, and focus group facilitation.

Striving to be a true methodological generalist, Kelly has breadth of social and clinical research skills, and the ability to work with clients and shareholders to pragmatically identify the best approaches to answer research and evaluation questions.

Kelly joined Pharmerit International (now OPEN Health) in 2018 as Director and Qualitative Research Lead with over a decade of experience in qualitative and mixed-methods development and evaluation of COA tools. In Kelly’s previous position as Senior Research Scientist at Health Research Associates, Kelly served as a principal investigator, project coordinator, qualitative interviewer, analyst, and research methodologist on over 90 projects to develop and validate PRO tools across a wide variety of health conditions.

During Kelly’s tenure, Kelly helped to lead HRA’s instrument-development collaborations with both the Depression and NSCLC Working Groups of the PRO Consortium, resulting in the organization’s first two successful FDA qualifications of outcome assessment tools (the Symptoms of Major Depressive Disorder Scale [SMDDS] and the Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer Symptom Assessment Questionnaire [NSCLC-SAQ]).
