Biography

Valeria Grasso received her PhD in Biomedical Engineering Summa cum Laude in April 2023. As a Marie Curie fellow, she conducted her research activity based at FUJIFILM VisualSonics, in Amsterdam, The Netherlands, and affiliated with the Christian-Albrecht University of Kiel, Germany. Within this industry-academy alliance, she focused on the advancement of photoacoustic imaging and its translation into the clinics. Her goal was to non-invasively and accurately monitor the molecular tissue components in the presence of a new class of biodegradable bone implants made of Magnesium. She is currently a Postdoc on functional ultrasound imaging and neuromodulation at the Tommaso Di Ianni Lab based at UCSF, in San Francisco. Her main research interest centers on developing novel acoustic technologies for both functional imaging and focused ultrasound therapy to monitor and treat neural dysfunctions.
