Eric Riddell, PhD
Ecology, Evolution, and Organismal Biology (EEOB)
Iowa State University
Eric uses physiology to understand the mechanisms that structure the niche. His research determines whether organisms have the physiological capacity to tolerate environmental change by blending experimental biology with simulation-based computer models that convert landscapes into physiological experiences. The approach requires insight from behavior, physiology, ecology, and evolution. Through the synthesis of these disciplines, Eric’s lab provides a comprehensive understanding of organisms, from genes to geographic ranges, while improving their capacity to predict the impact of climate change.
