Biography

Jonathan Polimeni is a neuroscientist and engineer at Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School. His research focuses on studying the human brain using functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging (fMRI). His training was in computational neuroscience and neural modeling, electrical engineering, fMRI physics, and ultra-high field MRI. He is an Associate Investigator at the Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH), Assistant Professor in Radiology at Harvard Medical School, Affiliated Faculty in the Division of Health Sciences and Technology at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and Director of Ultrahigh-Field Imaging at the Athinoula A. Martinos Center for Biomedical Imaging. He leads the High-Resolution and Ultra-High-Field Functional Imaging Laboratory, which focuses on developing new technologies for high-resolution fMRI in humans, on investigating the relationship between brain hemodynamics and neuronal activity, on studying the functional architecture of the human visual cortex, and on applying these advanced tools for studying cerebrovascular physiology in health and disease. He is currently the principal investigator on several NIH grants, including a multi-institutional project funded by the BRAIN Initiative.
